Eating Right for your Body Type

The 25 Body Type System is not a diet – it’s a highly individualized nutritional plan that has both weight maintenance and optimal nourishment built in, and is practical to implement. It supports consistent energy and focus throughout the day, eliminates food cravings, and makes weight management easy.

These days it’s hard enough keeping up with all the changing nutritional and dietary recommendations. How do you eat your favorite dishes, while eating right for your body type? And how do you plan and prepare meals for a household that includes different body types?

Rethinking Meals and Snacks

First refer to your Profile & Diet booklet for your body type. In the “Dietary Guidelines” section, review your “Dietary Emphasis”. These are the key nutritional points for you. This section highlights considerations specific to your body type.

The Dietary Emphasis varies by body type. For some, specific vegetables are encouraged; for others, raw vs. cooked veggies is recommended. Some of the recommendations are very specific – for example, the Medulla body type does best starting each day with a few bits of vegetables before any other foods. These details are also provided on the Quick Reference Cards.

Next, read the “Menus” section. This outlines the optimal meal times for your body type. These times have been chosen based upon when your body type has the most energy for metabolism and would benefit most from the nutrition.

This section provides some general characteristics for each meal and snack – heavy or light, types of foods to include, etc. Pay particular attention to when dense proteins, carbs, and fruit are recommended. Pituitary body types should consume the majority of their proteins and carbs by 2:00 PM; while Blood body types should emphasize protein at lunch and carbs at dinner; and Adrenal body types should avoid dense protein at breakfast but can enjoy it for lunch or dinner.

A major difference bewteen the body types is that fruit is assimilated best at certain times, so it's important to consume fruit at the optimal times of day for your body type.

The menus themselves provide many optimal examples of meals for your body type. These are even categorized based on your goals – if you’re trying to lose or gain weight, or rebuild the adrenal glands.

Choosing Dishes and Foods

Review the food lists in your Profile and Diet book. Start with the “Stressful” foods – to remind yourself of the foods to avoid as much as possible. The “Ultra Supportive” foods can be enjoyed in 3 – 7 meals per week, and the “Supportive” foods can be enjoyed once or twice weekly.

I have found that certain foods become easier to assimilate in specific combinations. For example, for the Blood body type, turkey is Ultra-Supportive when combined with celery, mustard or bacon. For the Kidney body type, turkey is Ultra-Supportive when combined with cranberries. For Kidney types, eggs become Supportive when combined with tomato, salsa or ketchup. See "Key Combinations" in your Profile & Diet book in the "Dietary Guidelines" section for food combinations for your body type.

The menus in your Profile and Diet book were carefully selected for your body type. Not only do they include foods that are particularly supportive for your body type, but they include certain combinations of foods that I have found to nutritionally complement each other, as described in the preceding paragraph. You can add other foods or seasoning to these menu suggestions, but don't substitute different items.

If you’d like to make one of your favorite dishes, compare the recipe ingredients to your food lists. Are there items that could be swapped out for more supportive ingredients? It’s relatively easy to create new versions of dishes that are better for your body type.

With today’s busy schedules, it’s tempting to make a large amount of a favorite dish and snack on the leftovers. It’s also very easy to eat the same thing several days in a row rather than thinking up something different. Food variety and rotation is important for all 25 body types – so try to avoid “rut eating” and overdoing it on leftovers.

Supportive Desserts

It’s hard for most of us to say “no” to desserts. Good news: You don't have to!

Even a small amount of something sweet can be very satisfying. There are plenty of options that don’t include refined sugars or other forms of simple sugar such as corn syrup, which can create spikes in your blood sugar levels.

Your food lists can suggest alternative sweeteners, and refer to your menus for recommended dessert options.

Household Meal Planning

It can be a challenge to plan healthy meals for a household including several different body types, but it gets easier – as you figure out meals that work for the various different body types in your household, you can rotate them every so often.

Start by comparing meal and snack times between body types. When they don’t align or overlap, meals can still be prepared together and consumed at different times.

Next compare meal descriptions for each body type. The meal differences between body types can be significant, as described above. This doesn’t mean an individual meal should be prepared for each body type in the household. The easiest solution is an “interchangeable meal” – where some items are shared by everyone, and other items are not – they may be saved for a later meal. Start with the commonalities between each body type for each meal, then sort out the differences.

The Quick Reference Card was designed to facilitate meal planning. They are 8.5x11” and includes all food lists and key nutritional guidelines for each body type in your household. They are even laminated to protect against spills or tears in the kitchen or n the grocery store. They also come in an ebook format if you prefer to read your smartphone rather than a card while shopping.

Sacred Angel Essential Oil
for Transumuting Off into Harmony

Sometimes we just feel “off.” That is when something isn’t quite right but we can’t necessarily identify exactly what it is. Things don’t seem to fall into place and work out the way that they normally do. We feel out of sync, but aren’t sure why. We aren’t at peak performance.

The other side of Off is Harmony. Harmony is when everything and everyone are flowing together, things are working out, and there is no discord.

The feeling of being Off, unlike most emotions which are stored in organs, is actually stored in the 10th Chakra (the Universal Chakra) outside the body. This point is located about 16” above the crown or top of the head.

Off transmutes into Harmony using Sacred Angel essential oil, and the statement “I relate.” When Sacred Angel is not available, White Angelica can be substituted.

This is one of the new emotions introduced with the expanded Chakra section in the 25 Year Anniversary Edition of “Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils.”

Sacred Angel is a blend including Myrrh, Ylang Ylang, Sacred Sandalwood, Hyssop, Geranium, Black Spruce, Coriander, Camphor, Melissa, Rose and Angelica essential oils. It aligns positive energies and provides grounding in the pursuit of your goals. It also encourages feelings of generosity and compassion.
