Healthy Detoxification for your Body Type

We hear a lot about detoxification, so – what is it, how does it work, what is the best way to go about it? Essentially, how do I make sense of it and make it effective and beneficial for me? These are the questions I will be addressing here.

What is detoxification?

Detoxification is the elimination of toxins by the body. The term “toxins” is used as a general term to describe substances that are harmful to the body.

Where do toxins come from?

Toxins come from a number of places. They may come from our own bodies, as a natural by-product of cellular metabolism, like in respiration (the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide), or in the digestion of food (whereby the body absorbs the nutrients and eliminates the waste). When we consume protein, it is broken into amino acids, which are absorbed and used to make new cells, and urea, which is excreted by the kidneys. Toxins may also come from external sources, importantly, the foods we eat. Toxins can come from food containing fungus, molds, or bacteria; they may also come from foods that we know we should not eat such as those containing artificial flavorings, colorings, refined sugars, highly processed wheat, preservatives, and/or GMO’s. Other external sources include skin-care products and high pollution levels which expose us to chemicals and other substances that are harmful to the body.

How does the body eliminate toxins?

The body has its own natural detoxification system to process harmful substances, make them not harmful, and clear them from the body. Problems arise when the body is overwhelmed from too much toxicity and/or the body’s detoxification/elimination system is impaired. There are things we can do on a regular basis, however, to support the body’s detoxification process. Let’s take a closer look at the organs involved in detoxification.

The body’s detoxification system consists of the liver, kidneys, skin, lymphatics, lungs, and bowels. The liver and lymphatics play a role in processing and clearing waste from the blood and circulation, though do not eliminate waste directly. When functioning at their ideal levels, the kidneys eliminate 50% of the toxins or normal waste; the skin 28%; the lungs 20% which is basically carbon dioxide – so it doesn’t help with what has been ingested; and the remaining 2% is eliminated through the bowels as solid waste.

The liver plays a huge role in processing harmful substances and cleaning and filtering waste from the blood. One of the ways to support liver health is by physical movement, which promotes circulation, and by maintaining a balanced emotional state. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the energetic Liver is responsible for free flow throughout the body; this free flow can get impaired by unexpressed or imbalanced emotions, especially anger, and can affect the physical liver itself.

With the kidneys being responsible for eliminating 50% of the waste, drinking good quality water is essential. You should aim to drink half of your weight in ounces per day. For example, if you weigh 130 pounds, you should drink 65 ounces, roughly half a gallon (64 oz.), per day. This should be plain water, not coffee, tea, sodas, or soups because anything other than plain water is considered food to the body.

The skin eliminates toxins and waste through perspiration and sweating, which is just one of the many reasons to exercise. You can also promote the elimination of toxins through the skin by taking a bath with 1 ounce each of Miracle II Soap and Miracle II Neutralizer. Kinotox Foot Pads are another tool to help with detoxification; they go on the bottoms of your feet while you sleep and contain herbs, including tree sap, which help pull the toxins out of circulation – one of the easiest ways to detoxify.

The lymphatic system, which runs throughout the body, carries waste into the blood to be filtered and excreted. Skin brushing is a great way to stimulate the lymphatics, and it also helps remove the dead layer of skin cells. Remember to brush from the extremities toward your heart (so from your feet to your heart, from your neck and fingertips to your heart).

The lungs are stimulated and detoxify through the breath. Deep breathing activates the lower lobes of the lungs and expands the diaphragm which, in addition to causing the lungs to expand and contract, helps the heart beat and move energy from the upper to the lower part of the body. Breathing exercises can be done regardless of your physical condition. Singing is an activity that promotes lung stimulation and can benefit you both physically and emotionally. Exercise is important in stimulating breathing in addition to circulation and lymphatic movement. Walking is a simple, good all-over exercise that stimulates the lymphatics and often the bowels; another exercise is rebounding or using the mini-trampoline. (See the June 2020 Newsletter: Exercising Right for your Body Type.)

It is important for the bowels to move regularly, ideally after each meal but at least once a day. There are a number of reasons for sluggish bowels. Some important habits to have that can support regular bowel movements include: drinking a sufficient amount of good quality water; exercise; vegetable and fiber intake. In addition, magnesium supplementation, especially at bed, can help keep the bowels moving. Almonds are an excellent source of magnesium, unless you are a Pineal or Thalamus body type, in which case almonds should be limited to once a month or less. Magnesium is readily available in fruits and vegetables, and it is not stored in the body like calcium is. An indication that you have taken in too much magnesium is diarrhea (which may be a blessing if you have been constipated).

How does the body eliminate toxins?

Beets are great for stimulating liver detoxification. Asparagus supports the liver and also the kidneys. Watermelon and watermelon juice support kidney cleansing. Lemon juice supports the lymphatics. Vegetables and vegetable juices are natural cleansers. As far as products, World Health Mall makes a Total Body Greens powder that can be mixed with water or added to a smoothie; it tastes great and works well for most people regardless of their body type. It comes in original, chocolate, and berry flavors.

What is the best cleansing program for me?

There are some variations among the body types, but in general, vegetables are the foundation of any program as they are the best cleansers and can be eaten raw, juiced, baked or steamed. Some body types do well to include nuts and seeds as well as fruits. Take note that the time of day that is best to eat fruit varies according to body type. I have found doing a fast or cleanse day of 1 to 3 days per week for 1 to 4 weeks per month to be the most effective and most supportive. Detoxing in this way takes the stress of digestion off of the body while providing enough nutrients to maintain blood sugar levels. It keeps you out of the starvation/deprivation mode while reducing calories.

Here is a peek into the sample one-day cleanse for a few of the 25 body types. Take the test to determine your body type. The Profile & Diet booklet (or ebook) for each body type includes a body type specific a sample cleanse menu.

Are You a Pineal Body Type?

Women with Pineal body type have relatively narrow shoulders and a small head in relation to their body. They have a defined waist, and are either long-waisted with small breasts, or short-waisted with large breasts. They range from petite to tall, with delicate hands and narrow feet. They tend to be chronically underweight.
Men with Pineal body type range from short to very tall, with small-to-medium bone structure. Their head is small in relation to their body. Thighs and calves are thin-to-average, and a natural protrusion over the abdomen gives a moderate ability to attain muscular definition in the torso.

Sacred Mountain Essential Oil
Transmuting Fear of the Unknown into Knowingness

Do you have a fear of the Unknown?

A fear of the unknown is the need to know what is going to happen; a need to have a fully structured plan; you want all the details before you make a decision. While it is good to have a plan, ideally, you want to leave some space for spontaneity - for those unexpected experiences that can add spice to your life.

How do you know if your life success is limited by the fear of the unknown? Do you hold yourself back from experiencing life or from going for your dream because you don't know what the future will bring? Are you the one who always wants to play it safe rather than listening to your heart and doing something new, just because you feel like it?

While experiences are vital to our growth and development, we also have a need to be safe to maintain our life experience. The challenge is to find and maintain balance. One way to maintain the illusion of being safe is to be in control, whether it is control of self, control of others, or control of your environment. The problem with control, is inevitably, life brings us situations that we can't control - giving us the opportunity to learn balance. So, how do we increase our odds of having positive experiences while maintaining our balance?

We all come equipped with an internal guidance system, also known as our inner knowingness. The key is to learn to discern what is true - that still small voice - and what is our thoughts or outside influences. One way to access your inner knowingness is to "Listen to your heart". You can use "Listen to you heart" as an affirmation, apply the essential oil Sacred Mountain to the emotional points on the forehead and the Pineal point on the back or the head, to shift the fear of the unknown to knowingness.

In addition to the fear of the Unknown, Sacred Mountain is also used to release the fear of Speaking Out, Hearing, Injustice, Compromising Self and Being a part of Mass Consciousness.

Being a part of Mass Consciousness is the emotion that is stored in the Solar Plexus or 3rd Chakra. It is through the Solar Plexus that we connect with people and our surroundings. A simple thing you can do to clear your energy field is to take sea salt into your shower – it is like going down to the ocean, except the water is fresh and warm. Get wet and rub some sea salt onto your chest and solar plexus, then rinse it off. This is beneficial whenever you are going through emotional stress or are around anyone else who is, which is generally daily if you are around people.

Sacred Mountain is used on the Solar Plexus to transmute Mass Consciousness into Christ Consciousness. The way to make the transition is by being conscious, so the affirmation is, “I am Conscious”.
