Eye body types are able to see the big picture as well as the details, catching what others miss. This month we look at what's unique about the Eye body type.

Release Essential Oil Blend is the fourth of the 6 oils in the Young Living Feelings Collection, which we are exploring individually.

As always, I hope and trust that these newsletters help you enjoy a happier, healthier life.

Top 10 Superfoods for 2018

holiday_treats.jpg

Most contemporary restaurant menus now feature superfood dishes. "Superfood" simply means a whole food that is rich in nutrients. What's good about these foods, and are they good for everyone? Let's take a look at 10 of the most popular and beneficial superfoods.

#1 - Bone Broth

The benefits of bone broth are no secret. It is an ideally healthful food because of its ability to rebuild the gut. Many cultures have soup as a fundamental part of their diet, which is generally bone/meat broth based. Bone broth is commonly beef, chicken or fish based. Emphasize the varieties that best support your body type. For example, if you are an Adrenal, use chicken or fish bone broth, since beef can over stimulate the adrenal glands. If you are a Stomach, beef broth is an ideal choice, with chicken and/or fish to add variety.

#2 - Beets

Beets support the liver and are fantastic cleansers. There are five body types (Eye, Heart, Skin, Spleen, and Thyroid) for which beets are Ultra-Supportive whether they are Healthy or Sensitive, meaning they can beneficially be eaten up to seven times weekly even when stressed. For three body types (Balanced, Intestinal, and Kidney), beets are a Rarely food, meaning they are best limited to once per month, when these body types are stressed or sensitive.

#3 - Avocado

Avocado is an excellent source for healthy fat. For three body types (Adrenal, Kidney, and Stomach), avocados are Ultra-Supportive even when they are Sensitive. However, avocados are Rarely for five types (Intestinal, Lymph, Nervous System, Pineal, and Thalamus) when they are Sensitive.

#4 - Salmon

Salmon is an excellent source of the essential fatty acids EPA/DHA. Make sure the salmon is wild caught and not farm raised. Farm raised salmon has only half the omega-3 levels of wild caught, due to being fed grains and legumes. Salmon is a frequently food for Stomach body types regardless of whether they are Healthy or Sensitive. Salmon is a rarely food only for Spleen body types, when they are Sensitive. The other 23 body types can eat salmon in moderation – meaning 1 to 2 times per week – or frequently – 3 to 7 times per week.

#5 - Fish Oils

Fish oils are essential in supplying EPA/DHA which support the adrenals and protect the heart. The supplement source I find works the best for the majority of people is Ultra D 5000 by Apex, as it supplies Vitamins D3 and K in a fish oil base which enhances the absorption of Vitamin D. Even here is southern California, the majority of people I see are low on Vitamin D.

#6 - Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an excellent fat source that is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Coconut oil contains short- and medium-chain saturated fatty acids that have important anti-microbial properties. They protect us against harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract. Saturated fatty acids constitute at least 50 percent of cell membranes. They give our cells necessary firmness and integrity. They play a vital role in the health of our bones. At least 50 percent of our dietary fats need to be saturated for calcium to be effectively incorporated into the skeletal structure.

Saturated 18-carbon stearic acid and 16-carbon palmitic acid are the preferred foods for the heart, which is why the fat around the heart is highly saturated. The heart draws on this reserve of fat in times of stress. Saturated fats are very stable and do not easily oxidize (turn rancid). Oxidized oils are very toxic to body and can cause wide spread free-radical damage. The most predominant medium-chain fatty acid in coconut oil is lauric acid which is similar to fats in mother’s milk with similar nutraceutical effects.

Coconut oil is one of nature’s richest sources of saturated fat which is needed to produce HDL cholesterol to feed the brain. Eating coconut oil has been found to reduce joint pain and to reduce total cholesterol levels. Coconut oil is not all the same. The best I have found is the Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil by Tropical Traditions, which is made by the traditional fermentation method. It is made by hand from certified organic coconuts and has the highest levels of antioxidants. Coconut oil can be used by all body types, including the Stomach body types even though coconut itself is a rarely food for them.

#7 - Coconut

Fresh Young Coconut or Coconut Water is high in amino acids, saturated fatty acids, antioxidants, and minerals including magnesium. Magnesium helps regulate bowel function and is depleted under stress, especially noise stress. Coconut is a frequently food source for the Thymus body type.

#8 - Blueberries

Blueberries strengthen white blood cells, making them highly supportive for the Spleen body type. Blueberries (and other berries) are usually listed as superfoods. However fruit does have a high sugar (fructose) level, so the time of day when it can be beneficially consumed varies by body type.

#9 - Kale and Broccoli

Green vegetables like Kale and Broccoli are high in minerals and natural cleansers for the body. Broccoli is a Frequently or Ultra-Supportive food for the Adrenal, Gallbladder, and Heart body types regardless of whether they are Healthy or Sensitive. Kale is a Frequently or Ultra-Sensitive for the Eye and Liver body types, regardless of their health level and Rarely for only Balanced and Gallbladder when Sensitive. Greens powders are an easy way to get concentrated nutrients into the body and can be mixed with water or into a smoothie. Some good sources are: Premier Greens by Premier Research Labs, and Total Body Greens by World Health Mall. Total Body Greens comes in the Original, Berry, and Chocolate with pure organic cocoa.

#10 - Seaweed

Seaweed (and sea vegetables) are excellent food sources because they are high in minerals, vitamins, and amino acids. Nori seaweed, which is typically used in sushi, contains more vitamin C than oranges and is high in trace elements such as zinc. Some other sea vegetables include Norwegian Kelp, Irish Moss which grows abundantly along the Northern Atlantic coastline and is rich in iodine and sulfur, Bladder Wrack which is found in the Northern Atlantic Ocean and is high in iodine and other minerals, kelp which has been shown to reduce the body’s absorption of radiation, and Sea Lettuce which is high in protein and minerals including iron.

All of these sea vegetables are found in a whole food liquid supplement known as Sealogica. In addition to the original formula, there is an Inflammation Tea which includes an additional 7 herbs (Boswella, Yucca Root, Devil’s Claw Root, Hops Flower, Fenugreek Seed, Hyssop Herb, and Ginger Root). The Detox Tea contains 7 herbs (Pau D’ Arco, Red Clover Herb, Oregon Grape Root, Burdock Root, Yellow Dock Root, Dandelion Root, and Garlic) in addition to the sea vegetables. If your body type is Thyroid, eating seaweed is supportive, but if you are a Gallbladder, getting your seaweed from a supplement source is better than eating it.

Peppermint Oil

Although not technically a superfood, Peppermint Essential Oil is an excellent general purpose oil supporting health and digestion. Peppermint oil can be added to hot water to make a tea, cold or room temperature water to soothe an irritated throat. Apply to throat, chest, neck and/or forehead to reduce respiratory congestion. Peppermint is anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial. It is also effective against mold. Peppermint oil can be applied topically over the stomach and intestines to calm and assist digestion.

Superfoods - Good for Everyone?

Superfoods are supportive or ultra-supportive for most body types most of the time. However, even superfoods are not alwways beneficial for all body types at all times. Some body types are actually stressed trying to digest certain superfoods when they are sensitive. So the real answer, as with all food choices, is that the benefits of superfoods are individual per body type.

Are You an Eye Body Type?

Eye Body Types have excellent eyesight and/or the ability to see what others don’t notice

brain.jpg

Celebrities with Eye body type include Tina Fey, Will Smith, Calista Flockhart, Patrick Stewart, Jessica Tandy, Keira Knightly, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lawrence, Heidi Klum, and Rachel McAdams.

Are you an Eye body type? You might be, if:
  • You have an ability to see what others don’t notice
  • You can see the whole picture as well as the details
  • You have a dry sense of humor
  • You have a witty, rebellious side just underneath the surface
  • You choose your own way of doing things differently
  • In your baby pictures you are “all eyes”

If this describes you, you could be an Eye body type.

Appearance

Eye body types have dominant or hooded eyes, and vision is their dominant sense, and may have difficulty gaining weight. Women have a characteristic protrusion on the upper outer thigh, and their upper body may be a full size smaller than the lower body. Initial weight gain is on the upper thighs (inner and outer), and lower buttocks. Men have a natural fat layer in their upper body, making it difficult to achieve muscular definition in the torso. Men's initial weight gain is a solid thickening around the waist, and softer, relaxed musculature over the abdomen.

Personality, Relationships & Career

Eye body types are excellent with analysis and the abstract. They are determined and self-motivated, often channeling their creativity through work, with the perseverence to complete elaborate or complex projects. Not content with following directions, the rebellious aspect of an Eye body type always asks, "Is there a better way" - they are known for devising their own methods.

The primary nature of Eye body types is Mental / Spiritual. Read more about these Points of Connection here.

Exercise

Recommended exercise for Eye body types is an hour every other day - to help with digestion, mental clarity, and stress reduction. Emphasize vigorous lower-body exercise to release anger.

Nutrition, Diet & Weight

Eye body types benefit from foods high in good fats (such as olive oil, butter, nuts and seeds), and dense protein such as fish and shellfish. Also focus on foods high in Vitamin A - such as carrots, kelp, sweet potatoes and spinach. Smaller meals and snacks are best. For Eye types, variety and rotation are essential.

For weight loss, avoid caffeine and sugar - including fruit and fruit juice. Avoid bread, although limited sourdough is fine. Minimize dairy and grains. Make breakfast the largest meal, with an emphasis on protein. For snacks, choose proteins such as nuts or cheese.

Complete nutritional information including food lists for the Eye body type can be found on the Eye Quick Reference Card.

Core Emotional Issues

The core emotional issues for Eye body types are Suppressed Emotions, F--- You, and Overwhelmed.

The other side of Suppressed Emotions is Protected. This feeling is stored in the Eye/Brain, accessed using Eucalyptus Blue essential oil with the statement, "It is safe to remember". The opposite of F--- You is Detachment. This feeling is stored in the ego, accessed using Frankincense essential oil and the statement "I stand in my power". Overwhelmed is stored in the vision. The opposite is Vision, accessed using Envision essential oil with the statement, "I focus my energy".

Release Essential Oil
release.jpg

The fourth oil in the Feelings Collection is Release. Release assists you to be On Purpose. Once you have released the memory trauma and anger, you have the space to create emotional well-being. It isn’t until frustration and negative emotions have been released, that you are able to progress in a positive way.

The Feelings Collection takes us step by step along this path, with the first oil being Forgiveness to allow us to connect with the Truth, thus enabling us to learn from all of life’s experiences. The second oil Harmony, brings about Elevation giving us the opportunity to rise above the hurts to value life. The third oil Inner Child, brings about our Inner Connection which is our connection with our inner self that is at the core of who we are. To go into the clearing process in more depth, see October, November and December 2017 newsletters.

The emotions that will interfere with your ability to be On Purpose are: Dejection, Fear of Success, Holding Back, Loss of Identity, Conditional Love (Agenda), Rebellion, and the fear of being Wrong. Loss of Identity is a core emotional issue for the Gonadal and Lymph body types. The fear of being Wrong is a core issue for the Brain, Pancreas, Spleen and Thymus body types. Rebellion is associated with the 7th Chakra. The other side of Rebellion is Oneness, and the way to achieve Oneness is “I am one with all that is.”

Release contains five essential oils that help balance hormones, stimulate the pineal gland and the limbic region of the brain (centers of emotions and memory) that open and elevate the mind: Ylang Ylang, Lavandin, Geranium, Sandalwood and Blue Tansy. It is intended for aromatic or topical use, although some may experience a skin sensitivity. If skin sensitivity should occur, apply olive oil, butter, coconut oil or shea butter to dilute the essential oil.

For general applications, Release may be:
  • Diffused
  • Directly inhaled
  • Add 2-4 drops to bath water
  • Massage on bottom of feet and behind ears
  • Apply topically over liver or anywhere trauma has occurred or as a compress
  • Dilute 1:15 with vegetable oil for body massage
  • Put a few drops on cotton ball and locate on vents

For more information on the use of Essential Oils to release emotions, refer to Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils.
