EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES – Resolving Them For Good


time_wheel.jpg Has your life been more intense these last 3 months? Have you been faced with more challenges than normal? Has your life been busier than usual? Have you found yourself more emotional, bothered by things that you would normally not be affected by, or needing to help those around you cope with their lives?

These are the signs of the times - unresolved emotional issues surfacing. It happens every year in the Fall, with the last of the summer harvest, leaves turning colors, back to school, time to re-focus on goals and priorities. It is the Fall Equinox, the ninth month, the Jewish new year, Yom Kippur, with the day of atonement – looking over the year and asking for forgiveness for falling short, and then starting anew with the new year. This year we got an early start with the Lunar eclipse signifying endings and the Solar eclipse beginnings.

Ultimately, the issues we seem to continue to face year after year, with variations, seem to come back to our core emotional issues. While all of us have all the emotions, some emotions are more of a challenge to some of us than others. There is a common denominator and that is body type. The psychological profile of your body type literally takes 20 years of personal introspection and self-discovery and condenses it into 4 pages. Here you will learn, or confirm what you have discovered to be, your core essence, what motivates you, your challenges and your strengths. Your unresolved challenges are associated with your core issues and these are common challenges for people of the same body type. If you do not already know your body type, the easiest way to discover it is to take the test.

Core emotional issues are important to know, because they are the underlying cause of a lot of unpleasant emotions. They show up as a central theme with variations, usually getting more intense each time – unless you are dealing with them and then they become increasingly subtle. An example of a core emotional issue is REJECTION. This is a core emotional issue for 3 of the 25 body types: Balanced, Intestinal and Liver. It doesn’t mean other body types do not have rejection as an issue, it is just not as intense or persistent as the 3 types where it is a core issue.

The feeling of rejection is not always evident, or something you are consciously aware of. You may find yourself experiencing related emotions such as, not good enough, not enough, not getting enough, worthless, unimportant, being a victim, apathy, unmotivated or just plain depression. There is a central theme or underlying cause of all of these emotions and that is rejection. Many times, simply transmuting rejection into acceptance by accepting all that you are will shift the related emotions as well.

If you find the related emotions to still be present after you have worked with rejection, work with them as well. You can work on multiple emotions, one right after another using different oils, or work with one or all of the emotions associated with each oil, like Purification for rejection. The other emotions Purification is used for are: anger, fear of being alone, fear of seeing, negative or erroneous thoughts, fear of recognition, and violence.

Simply being aware of the less than joyful emotions you are experiencing throughout the day, and identifying them will show you the emotions that need to be addressed. Once you have identified the emotion, go to the “Emotional Reference” section of the blue book, Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils, and find the emotion you are experiencing. From there you will find the positive or “other side” of the emotion, the affirmation or “way out” of the emotion, the essential oil that holds the positive frequency, the “alarm point” which is where the emotion is stored in the body, and the “chart” that shows you where the point is located on the body. This video will show you how to use the oil to shift the emotion into its positive expression:


Other ways of identifying emotions that are up for you right now include areas of pain or discomfort in your body – refer to the “Body Reference” section, or the oils you are either attracted to or repelled by – see the “Oils Reference” section. Once you have identified the emotion, go to the “Emotional Reference” and start working with the emotion.

How many times you need to apply the oil, feel both sides of the emotion and say the affirmation three times, depends on the depth of the emotional pattern. If the emotion is not much of an issue, you may just do the procedure one time. If it is an issue you have been struggling with your entire life – a core issue – it can take some time. One of the easiest ways to clear deep issues is to go through this process at night before you go to bed, as it allows your subconscious to do a lot of the work. Follow this by repeating the process in the morning when you are setting the tone for your day, and then any time you happen to think about it or anytime the emotion shows up. How long do you need to do it? As long as it is an issue. When situations come up that would normally trigger you and you can immediately shift into the positive emotion, then you know you are done – you have mastered the emotion, it is no longer an issue.

feelings_kit.jpg The Feelings Collection by Young Living contains 6 oils that will take you through a process of releasing emotions and is a good way to go deeper. The six oils are: Forgiveness, Harmony, Inner Child, Release, Present Time, and Valor. There is a central theme for each of the oils that will guide you through a transformation process. You could do an initial clearing by simply applying each of the oils in sequence, or go into more depth by working with the specific emotions that each oil is connected with, or a combination of both. I will go through the emotions associated with each oil in subsequent newsletters, allowing you time to really process each step. This month I will start with the first oil, Forgiveness.

In going through the Feelings Collection, I was impressed by the central theme of each oil. For Forgiveness, it is Truth. Truth in the form of accepting the truth, honoring truth, learning from life’s experiences, forgiving, supporting one’s self, and my latest discovery - accepting my uniqueness. Harmony brings about Elevation, giving you an opportunity to rise above the situation. Inner Child brings about an Inner Connection. Release assists you to be On Purpose. Present Time brings you into the Present. Valor allows you to connect with your Inner Strength to accomplish your goals.

The emotions associated with Forgiveness are: betrayal – which is ultimately betrayal of self, distrust, fear of repeating the past – not wanting to make the same mistake again which can lead to not allowing yourself to fully love for fear of being hurt again, revenge, self-denial – which is the basis of chronic degenerative diseases, and my latest discovery – bitterness.

Bitterness has been described as a primary cause of serious illness. The other side of Bitterness is Connected and the way out is “I accept my uniqueness.” Bitterness is stored in the gallbladder along with the fear of repeating the past.

Balanced Body Types are essentially playful and adventurous, and need balance between all aspects of life

Celebrities with Balanced body type include Alicia Keys, Jessica Biel, Ryan Seacrest, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bradley Cooper, Katy Perry, Bill Clinton, Deepak Chopra, Chelsea Handler, Jamie Foxx, Fred Astaire, Tina Turner, Liberace, John F. Kennedy, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Trudeau, and Jessica Simpson.

Are you a Balanced body type? You might be, if:
  • You constantly strive for balance in all areas of your life
  • You have a long torso with short legs, or long legs with a short torso
  • You thrive on adventure (and people are an adventure for you)
  • You prefer to work alone and do-it-yourself
  • You are honest (sometimes considered blunt)
  • You are a people person – but slow to develop trust and close relationships
  • You have a special affinity for peanut butter cups

If this describes you, you could be a Balanced body type.


Appearance

Balanced body types are distinguished by either short legs with a long torso, or long legs with a short torso. Balanced women have a bright, sparkling eyes, a defined waist, and the appearance of relatively flat buttocks due to blending with the thighs. Initial weight gain for women is in the lower body – upper thighs and buttocks, and lower abdomen. Balanced men have a medium bone structure and may have wide hips, with average musculature that can attain moderate definition with exercise. Initial weight gain for men is solid musculature in the lower or entire abdomen, and a solid thickening of the waist.


Personality, Relationships & Career

Balanced body types are playful and adventurous. They have a sensitive nature that drives them to great lengths to maintain equilibrium and balance in their lives. On the outside they are light, playful, personable and entertaining, while inside they are reserved and reluctant to share their true feelings. Their sense of adventure drives them to travel – both geographically and mixing among different people.

The primary nature of Balanced is spiritual / mental. They are persistent, goal-oriented self starters who prefer to work alone and easily accept responsibility. They are self-contained and conscientious in their work and activities.


Exercise

Balanced body types benefit emotionally from exercise – it lifts their spirits and adds variety to their day. Sunlight is beneficial so outdoors activities are recommended, and variety is essential. Good exercise for them include Pilates, dancing, walking, hiking, bicycling, swimming, and tennis.


Nutrition, Diet & Weight

Breakfast should emphasize carbohydrates, lunch should feature proteins, and dinner should emphasize grains with vegetables. Balanced body types do best with a balance between raw and cooked vegetables. A vegetarian diet is not recommended for this body type because it needs 10-30% of its caloric intake from protein. Rotation of specific foods is important – try not to repeat foods within 4 days.

For weight loss, avoid caffeine, stimulants and alcohol; limit fruit to breakfast; consume most calories at breakfast and lunch with a light dinner; reduce dairy, avoid starches at dinner, and don’t snack after dinner.


Core Emotional Issues

The Core Emotional Issues commonly encountered by Balanced body types are (Fear of Losing) Control, Rejection, and F--- you.

Control is stored in the stomach, accessed with Peace & Calming essential oil. The opposite of Control is Balanced, and the way out is “I am content and blessed”. Rejection is stored in the lungs, accessed with Purification essential oil. The opposite of Rejection is Acceptance, and the affirmation statement is “I accept all that I am”. F--- you is stored in the ego, which is accessed with Frankincense essential oil. The opposite of F--- you is Detachment, and the affirmation is “I stand in my power”.

Forgiveness Essential Oil

The featured essential oil this month is Forgiveness.

The central theme of the emotions associated with Forgiveness is Truth.

Forgiveness is an essential oil blend, which was formulated to help one release negative memories, negative emotional barriers, hurt feelings, insults, betrayal, distrust, repeating the past, revenge and self-denial. It allows attainment of higher awareness by assisting to forgive and let go. The fear of repeating the past is stored in the gallbladder, making it a useful oil for anyone with gallbladder issues.

Forgiveness is a blend containing Rose, Melissa, Helichrysum, Angelica, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Bergamot, Geranium, Jasmine, Lemon, Palmarosa , Roman Chamomile, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang.

How to Use:
  • Diffuse, directly inhale, or add 2-4 drops to bath water
  • Apply 1 to 2 drops behind ears, on wrists, neck, temples, navel, solar plexus, or heart
  • Dilute 1 part oil to 15 parts vegetable oil for a full body massage
  • Put 4-8 drops on cotton ball and locate on vents

NOTE: Possible skin sensitivity. Avoid contact with eyes.
