How to Discover and Resolve Your Core Emotional Issues |
![]() What are Core Emotional Issues? We all experience the full range of human emotions. Yet we each have a few specific ones that we tend to struggle with over and over, in a variety of different scenarios. I call these “core emotional issues”. Common examples are Fear of Abandonment, Anger, Fear of Failure, Control, and Fear of Rejection. These emotions influence our actions and choices on a level far more deeply than we are aware. They can cause us to hesitate or resist moving forward in life, accepting new challenges or opportunities, and reaching our full potential. The core emotional issues for the Lymph body type are the fear of Being Left Behind and Identity. Here are the stories of 3 Lymph body types - how these core issues affected their lives, and how they resolved them. Mike - Male, Age 50 I have a patient, Mike, who learned he is a Lymph body type. The core emotional issues for Lymphs are the fear of Being Left Behind, and Identity. He eagerly related to me how those 2 issues had been major emotional themes throughout his life. Since childhood he experienced a fear of being left behind, whether it was being excluded from activities and games, or missing out on events. As an adult, the same fear pushed him to be an overachiever at his career, never wanting to be outdone, and allowing career to dominate his life. He also described being driven throughout his life by a gnawing need to understand who he was on a deeper level, why he was here, and what his life was about (Identity). During his childhood, this manifested as a struggle to understand that he was gay in an upbringing that offered no support nor role models for him. This need for Identity peaked in middle age, manifesting as a disinterest in career, exhaustion, and health challenges. His road to recovery and a fulfilling life was deeply rooted in discovering a satisfying purpose. Unprocessed emotions, or our resistance to feeling, processing and resolving them, can manifest in the body as illness. These roadblocks are those things in life that challenge us to grow through them, and in doing so they become our greatest strengths. Wylie - Male, Age 37 I have another patient, Wylie, who is also a Lymph body type. In high school, he did not have any close friends, yet he felt he had to connect with others. To keep from “being left behind” and make sure he was included in school parties, he would bring pizza. His class mates would take advantage of him and invite him because he was “the guy who brought pizza.” Growing up, he was constantly being made wrong by his family. He would take on other’s identity so he would be included and not left behind. He felt he was a victim, that bad things happened to him from outside sources. One day, he was in a motorcycle accident where he flew over the handle bars and landed with his hands stretched out in front of him. He suffered multiple fractures to his wrists and forearms. He was incapacitated for months and needed help for even the most basic selfcare. He realized he was being told he was going in the wrong direction and needed to take personal responsibility for creating his own reality. He needed to find his own identity. Now he is secure in his own identity. He is moving forward, coming into the fullness of expressing his Divine self and helping others to do the same. Alannah - Female, Age 38 Alannah has been using my book for emotional healing regularly for over 3 years. When she discovered it, she knew how powerful it was, but had no idea how truly life changing it would be. The emotional freedom of releasing childhood traumas and the patterns that followed has allowed her to live a life she was born to. But like anything worthwhile, it is an ongoing process of releasing. One evening after an event, she found herself feeling pathetic and phony. When I told her it was her core issue of the fear of being left behind and we released it, she felt like a light went on. Something clicked within her and she experienced a clarity she had never known before. It was a combination of being able to move forward and a realization of her true identity. A peace came over her and she stopped the searching she had been doing her entire life. This was the moment she understood the significance of the core issues. It has freed her to move into her true identity and live her life from an empowered state, with a grateful heart every day. What are YOUR Core Emotional Issues? You may have already identified some of your core emotional issues and grown through them. Or you may have at least a general idea what they may be. The first step in resolving core emotional issues is to identify the ones that belong to you. Early in my research for the 25 Body Type System, I began to see correlations between body types and specific emotional patterns. For example, people with Kidney and Thyroid body types frequently had a propensity for feeling Misunderstood. Although other body types also experience this emotion, they do not struggle with it the way Kidneys and Thyroids do. Over time I have identified the greatest core emotional issues for each body type. Does that mean that you grapple with all the core emotional issues for your body type? Not necessarily. You may have grown through some of those emotional patterns already. But you will certainly identify with what all of them are. The quickest way to identify your Core Emotional Issues is by identifying your body type. Once you know your body type, you will find your core emotional issues at the end of your Psychological Profile in your Profile & Diet or on the Core Emotional Issues page in the “Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils” book. These are the issues that will resonate with you, often as the larger hurdles you’ve faced in life. We attract experiences to help us see and resolve these emotional patterns. Then we are able to express the positive side of the emotion, like being free to move forward rather than being left behind or finding your identity by being in touch with your purpose. This is when your greatest challenge becomes your greatest strength. To discover your body type (and your Core Emotional Issues, start here: How to Resolve Your Core Emotional Issues For any core emotional issues that still hold you back in life, I developed a technique based on ancient Egyptian uses of essential oils for emotional release. Specific emotions are stored in related body organs. Corresponding essential oils trigger these organs through various alarm points and the limbic system of the brain. An affirmation statement helps to transmute the negative emotion to its positive counterpart, and supply a “way out” providing a means of releasing held emotional patterns. Are You a Lung Body Type? | ||
Are you mild-mannered, sensitive and caring? Does your greatest sense of fulfillment come through nurturing or helping others? Are you able to communicate and express emotions in a constructive, positive way? Then you may be a Lung body type. ![]() Celebrities with Lung body type include Cameron Diaz, Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, John Denver, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Chrissy Tiegan, Mel Gibson, John McEnroe, and David Spade. In "Signs", Mel Gibson plays a classic Lung body type - including his devotion to family, his physical/emotional nature, and his stubbornness. Are you a Lung body type? You might be, if:
If this describes you, you could be a Lung body type. Appearance Women having the Lung body type have a defined waist, with shoulders relatively even with hips, and elongated musculature. Upper body may be a full size smaller than lower body. Initial Weight gain can occur in the lower body (lower abdomen, waist and upper hips), with little or no gain in the thighs. Lung body type men have a torso which appears straight from the front, and more tapered from behind, with broad shoulders. Torso muscular definition is achievable with a moderate exercise program. Thighs and calves are thin-to-average. Tendency to develop a rounded upper back, giving a stooped appearance. Initial weight gain is a solid thickening of the waist, with little gain in the abdomen. Essence Just as the lungs supply the oxygen needed for life, Lung body types give life to their world by expressing positive, supportive emotions. Nurturing and creative, their strength lies in begin able to shift emotional energy; they can, for example, change hurt into creativity. This allows Lung types to express the energy of negative emotions in a safe, constructive, or positive manner. By respecting emotions and using them as an indicator rather than a response, Lung types can use their emotions to move into a greater richness and fullness of life, which is what enables them to excel at making the most of each moment. Personality, Relationships & Career Lung body types are generally mild-mannered, sensitive, caring, even-tempered, and practical. Although they are emotional, they like to think things through before taking action, which can impede spontaneity. They are naturally imaginative and creative, and gifted at working with their hands, turning abstract ideas into physical forms through art, design or even construction. They also express well through music and dance. Lungs are persistant and loyal in their relationships. Their strong drive to nurture often takes precedence over individual achievements. This leads them into service-oriented careers such as caretaker. Between their sense of responsibility, and fear of change, Lungs often stay in relationships longer than is good for them. The primary nature of Lung body types is Emotional / Physical. (Read more about these Points of Connection here.) Exercise The primary benefit of exercise for Lung body type is that it calms the mind and oxygenates the body. Walking, swimming, dancing, kick-boxing, Pilates, and lower-body exercises are particularly helpful. For more on exercising specifically for your body type, see the August 2017 Newsletter. Nutrition, Diet & Weight Lung body types do well with a heavy breakfast featureing protein, a moderate lunch emphasizing vegetables, and a light dinner without fruit. Milk aggravates the lungs, while peppermint tea aids digestion. The Lung body type is one of the body types that can successfully follow a vegetarian diet. To lose weight: reduce fruit; eliminate sugar; exercise; and add lemon juice or a drop of peppermint oil to drinking water. Lavender Essential Oil for Releasing Abandonment |
![]() The emotional issue that is the most common is Abandonment. It is a core issue for 9 of the 25 body types. While everyone can have abandonment issues, core issues are deeper and are linked to significant life lessons. The 9 body types are Adrenal, Brain, Intestinal, Lung, Pituitary, Skin, Spleen, Stomach, and Thymus. The other side of Abandonment is At-one-ment; which means being at one with all that is. When you are at one with all that is, there is no separation. Abandonment can not exist when all is one. The feeling of abandonment is most commonly felt when someone you care about or someone you feel is supposed to take care of you is no longer in the picture. This feeling is often projected to God not being there when our expectations are not met. A deeper understanding of abandonment comes when we look at how we have abandoned ourselves. Ultimately, we experience what we call negative emotions when there is something we need to learn. With abandonment, it is to embrace all of life’s experiences – this is how we learn. Criticism is a core emotional issue for the Intestinal and Skin body types. The fear of criticism is stored in the skin. The positive side of Criticism is Unconditional love and acceptance. This means acceptance without judgement, but honoring yourself and others by being discerning as to what is true and right for you. By doing this, you can open yourself to receive. Lavender essential oil is calming, relaxing and balancing – both physically and emotionally. Therapeutic grade lavender is highly regarded for the skin and may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises and skin irritations. Examples of topical uses include:
