![]() Dear Readers, I am pleased to announce the Transform Your Life Now event, a free web event with 20+ presenters - be sure to sign up today as it starts May 20. I've had patients tell me that body typing saved their marriage. Relationships can break down when we misinterpret, or take personally, behaviors by our partners. The highly detailed Personality Profile of each body type helps to understand each other at a deeper level - why we do what we do. The 2019 Edition of Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils is now available in several formats, featuring 6 new oils and 16 new emotions. Spleen body types are strong organizers, and tend to overwhelm others with their passion and intensity. Dragon Time Essential Oil can be used to release Infuriated, and is one of the new oils in the 2019 Edition. As always, I hope and trust that these newsletters help you enjoy a happier, healthier life. Health and Happiness, Dr. Carolyn Mein |

Marriage Saved with Body Typing |
![]() We generally begin relationships by connecting on points where we agree. This can be though talking about a subject where we have a common interest, or engaging in a shared activity. Compatibility can be defined by the number of things we have in common, starting with the values we hold most dear. These values can include our spiritual beliefs, family relationships, friendships, interests, goals, ambitions, hopes and dreams. In selecting a life partner, we pick the person we are the most compatible with in the areas that are most important to us. The "honeymoon" period is characterized by focusing on the positive aspects of the relationship. As the day-to-day stresses of life – usually associated with unresolved emotional stress – begin to surface, we start to see the areas where our views are different from those of our partner. How we choose to handle these differences varies, depending on how attached we are to our point of view. The normal tendency is to think, "Everyone thinks the way I think, and if not, if I just explain it to them well enough, they will get it and see it my way." Unfortunately, it does not work that way. Another common belief is, "If I can do something easily, someone else ought to be able to do it if they would just apply themselves." The reality is people have different inherent qualities. Some of these can be changed, modified, or developed, while others are "hard-wired" and are described as "Characteristic Traits" in the Psychological Profile of each body type. The area that can be changed is how these characteristic traits are expressed, either "At Worst" or "At Best". My advice when people ask me which body type would be the best for them, is to decide what is most important to them for where they are in their lives and what they want in a relationship. Then read the “Characteristic Traits” and see which ones are in alignment with what they want. Next, read the “At Worst” of the ones they have selected. If there are traits in the “At Worst” that you know you can not live with, keep these people as friends – do NOT marry them. What happens if this is someone you are currently married to? Then you have work to do. This is why I wrote Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils. For every “negative” emotion, there is an equal and opposite “positive” emotion, along with a way to get there. Sometimes there are characteristic traits that are just how a particular body type relates to the world, that can be misunderstood by another type and cause stress in the relationship. I’ve had numerous couples tell me, “Knowing our body types saved our marriage.” One couple, his body type is Stomach, and hers is Balanced, were on the verge of breaking up because she felt there was a problem in the relationship in that he did not love her anymore because he was not focusing on her as much as he did initially. He was frustrated because whenever he focused on work or completing a project, she became very demanding and accused him of not loving her anymore. The nature of the Stomach is to focus all their attention on the subject at hand. If that subject happens to be a person, the person will feel totally loved and surrounded by the Stomach’s energy. Whenever the Stomach shifts their focus on to something else, the energy disparity can be so great that the object of their focus can feel abandoned or rejected. Rejection happens to be a core issue for the Balanced body type. Once she understood how her husband’s energy worked, she was able to relax and felt secure in the relationship. He was relieved and was able to focus on other aspects of his life without the stress of feeling he was about to lose his marriage. Another couple, his body type Brain, hers Balanced, were experiencing stress because after 3 kids and 15 years of marriage, all she was hearing from him was, “you don’t do enough for me.” The reality is they had 3 kids because he wanted 3 kids, moved to California because he wanted to move to California, and managed everything themselves with no hired help. She was hanging by a thread, but keeping everything together because she only saw the world through rosy glasses and is a people pleaser who loves to keep everyone happy. Once she understood the way the Brain body type sees things, she was able to change the way she talked to him and now all she hears is, “you are the best wife ever, how did I get so Lucky!!!” The nature of the Brain body type is to do extensive research so they have all the information they need to make the “right” decision. They will fact check as a way of evaluating their past decisions, and verbalize, “I was right on that.” One example involves a Lymph body type that was getting irritated with what was perceived as an, “I told you so” attitude. It came across as “better than” and “I’m always right.” By reading the Brain profile and understanding that his comments were an internal process and had nothing to do with anyone else around, the Lymph was able to let them roll off and not take them personally. Taking the Brain vibrational allowed the Lymph to unhook from any of the “at worst” qualities, resulting in harmony in the relationship. Knowing your body type validates what you intuitively know and fills in the gaps. Sharing your body type with someone else allows them to understand you. Reading someone else’s body type helps you understand them and appreciate them for who they are. You can discover your body type using the buttons below: |

Are You a Spleen Body Type? | ||
Do you have a strong ability to organize and delegate? Do your passion and intensity tend to overwhelm others? Are you known for providing the sustaining energy to get things done properly? Then you may be a Spleen body type. ![]() Celebrities with Spleen body type include Jack LaLanne, Drew Carey, Christina Onassis, Maria Callas, Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull, Steve Ballmer, and Quentin Tarantino. Are you a Spleen body type? You might be, if:
If this describes you, you could be a Spleen body type. Appearance Spleen women have a defined to well-defined waist, sometimes known as an "hourglass" shape. They have solid bodies with muscular or heavy legs, and sometimes the lower body is a size larger than upper body. Weight gain begins in the lower body, including waist and middle back. They can carry most of weight in legs, resulting in a chunky appearance. Men with Spleen body type have a striking or distinctive face. They have relatively narrow shoulders and a thick, straight torso. Muscular definition in the torso may be difficult to achieve due to a soft layer under the skin. Essence Just as the spleen acupuncture point draws energy into the body to be disseminated through the blood as needed, Spleen body types disseminate energy. They have a strong ability to organize and delegate, making sure projects get done, many of which often involve food and social or group interaction. Noted for their tenacity, Spleen types stay with a subject until they get the results they want. They are most comfortable when they can solve a problem in a logical step-by-step fashion and are noted for providing the sustaining energy needed to get a job done right. Personality, Relationships & Career The primary nature of Spleen body types is Mental / Physical. (Read more about the Points of Connection.) Intense and forceful by nature, Spleen body types tend to be passionate in their ideas and convictions, to the point of overwhelming others and becoming perceived as aggressive. More people than task oriented, Spleens are better initially working with someone rather than independently. Social interaction gives them a sense of fulfill¬ment, particularly when they can be the authority or center of attention. Spleen types are generally good organizers, and like to do things in a big way, such as being involved in organizing huge social events. Good at doing things on an enormous scale, they will often undertake and suc¬ceed in enterprises of major proportions. Spleens love being the “achiever,” and will persist in a task, giving it their best. If they doubt their ability to succeed, they will procrastinate, finding excuses. Spleen types will try or start a lot of new things, but if success doesn’t come as quickly as they would like, procrastination begins, and provides an acceptable means of avoidance. Spleen types love to eat, and are often excellent cooks. It’s easy for them to put on and carry excess weight because their bodies are so strong that they rarely get indigestion or feelings of being too full from over-indulgence or dietary indiscretions. Exercise A natural soft layer makes muscular definition difficult to attain for Spleen body types, although exercise does tone muscle and release stress - one hour of activity before breakfast every other day is recommended. Low impact aerobics, walking, and dance are good choices - achieve a heart rate of 120 for at least 30 minutes. For more on exercising specifically for your body type, see the August 2017 Newsletter. Nutrition, Diet & Weight Spleen body types do best with lunch as the largest meal of the day. Rotate foods. Emphasize vegetables, especially green beans, but not vegetable juice. Eat fish twice weekly. Include cayenne pepper to stimulate the lymphatic system, curry to strengthen capillaries, and blueberries for the immune system. Spleen is NOT one of the body types that can thrive on a vegetarian diet. For more about body type and vegetarianism, see the February 2018 Newsletter. To lose weight: make sure lunch is the largest meal; have a light, early dinner before 6:00 PM, limit sugar, fruit, bread and snacks. Complete nutritional information including food lists for the Spleen body type can be found on the Spleen Quick Reference Card. Core Emotional Issues Each of the 25 body types encounters certain core emotional issues or lessons to overcome in life. For Spleen, these are:
