Dear Readers,

The pandemic has placed focus on disinfectants, so this month I discuss healthy disinfectants that are safe, non-toxic and effective.

Stomach body types have the passion and stamina to accomplish large projects and are natural leaders. Take the quick quiz to see if you might be a Stomach body type.

Lemon Essential Oil can be used to release many emotions - including Remorese and Jealousy, two new emotions I've just added to Oils Lookup.

Effective Ways to Disinfect

Disinfectants have grown dramatically in popularity since early 2020. Alcohol-based wipes and gels have surged in sales to the point of scarcity, while disinfectant sprays have been equally difficult to keep on store shelves.

So, what are we protecting against when we disinfect, and what is really effective?

What to Disinfect

There are basically two targets for disinfectants – air and surfaces. That’s because tiny and microscopic pathogens are airborne but do collect on surfaces. We may breathe them in or they may adhere to our skin.

These pathogens are generally mold or bacteria. They can cause an infection, in other words, make us sick. There are also pollutants and allergens, which can be a nuisance while also taxing the immune system.

Common Disinfectants

The most commonly used disinfectants are hand wipes, hand sanitizer gels, and sanitizer sprays. The gels and wipes are primarily alcohol-based. Alcohol is an effective cleanser and is considered chemical-free. However it also strips oils from the dermis, leaving the skin dry.

Chlorine bleach is traditionally considered an effective anti-bacterial, but it is toxic. During World War 1, chlorine gas was used as a choking agent. The chlorine released by bleach lingers and is dangerous to breathe, and harmful to skin and eyes. Prolonged exposure can disrupt thyroid function.

Ammonia, often using for glass or polishing, irritates human tissue. Those with lung or breathing issues will feel the effects quickly, and prolonged exposure can cause permanent damage to mucous membranes and the cardiovascular system.

Other active ingredients in popular cleaning products include formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, and perchloroethylene (PERC), among others; these are all toxins with different effects on the body.

Healthier Disinfectants

Are there effective disinfectants which do not contain toxic ingredients? There are – a popular one is Thieves Cleaner, which is formulated from essential oils using a centuries-old recipe known to ward off illness. This blend of lemon, rosemary, clove, cinnamon bark, and eucalyptus not only smells great, but is known for its immune system support and cleansing properties.

Can essential oils disinfect as well as chemical-based cleaning products? You can test for yourself. There are many online who’ve taken the “challenge” comparing Thieves Cleaner to bleach and Lysol. Not only is Thieves comparable in treating bacteria, but it outperforms bleach and Lysol in preventing bacteria from returning – here’s one example of the experiment: Thieves Essential Oil Better Than Bleach And Lysol

Disinfecting the Air

For disinfecting the air, Pure-Light bulbs are absolutely the best solution I have found. They employ a NASA-derived technology to breakdown 99.9% of bacteria, virus and mold in the air, as well as on nearby surfaces. These LED bulbs are specially coated with titanium dioxide, which reacts with light to produce two super oxygen molecules – called superoxides and hydroxyl ions.

Superoxides, which are produced by white blood cells, are used by the immune system to kill invading microorganisms. The hydroxyl ion, which does exist naturally in the atmosphere, is a more efficient atmospheric detergent than ozone. It reacts with pollutants, and attacks viruses and bacteria, destroying them with a process called lysing.

Pure-Light bulbs dissolve pollen and other allergens, as well as other indoor air pollutants. They destroy odors without masking them using fragrance. And they emit broad-spectrum “happy light”, or white light, that helps to relieve seasonal depression related to sunlight deficiency.

Since these bulbs are LED, they last many years without requiring replacement, and they deliver 60 watts of light using only 9.5 watts of energy (an 84% reduction in electricity for the same light output).

As an added benefit, besides purifying and disinfecting air that passes by them, Pure-Light bulbs also sanitize surfaces within 8-12 feet of the bulb.

Women with Stomach body type can range from petite to tall, with small to medium bone structure. Their shoulders are even with, or broader than, hips. They have a straight to defined waist, and the body above the waist may be a full size larger than the lower body. Weight gain is initially lower body - lower abdomen, waist, upper hips, and upper thighs, as well as upper back and below arms to the middle back.
Men with Stomach body type have a dominant, thick, straight torso with slender legs and smaller lower body. They have average-to-tall height, medium-to-large bone structure. They have thin-to-average calves and thighs, and can attain muscular definition in the torso with just basic exercise. Weight gain produces a solid muscular abdominal paunch, followed by a solid thickening of the waist.

Lemon Essential Oil

This month I added 2 new emotions to Oils Lookup (these will also be in the next release of Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils):
  • Remorse – stored in the tonsil – transmutes to Amends with “I make amends”
  • Jealousy – stored in the lymph – transmutes to Directed with “I focus myself”

There are several emotions associated with Lemon essential oil. Interestingly, most of them have to do with letting go of something from the past in order to move forward:
  • Suffocated -> breathe
  • Regret -> fulfilled
  • Stuck -> transformed
  • Left behind -> move
  • Frustration -> accomplishment

The greatest value of the past is the lessons it contains. As humans we tend to remain emotionally connected to how we felt about certain events in the past. This rumination can keep our focus on what has already occurred, rather than on moving into the future and what is next in life, without these attachments that hold us back.

Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils provides the roadmap to integrate the lessons of the past while detaching emotionally from how we felt in the experience. The affirmation statement, or the “way out”, reinforces the lesson as we transmute the emotion to the “other side” emotion. These are listed after the corresponding emotions above to show they all carry the feeling of being complete and moving on to something new.
