7 Tips for Enjoying the Holidays
without Compromising your Diet!

Luscious, hot turkey slices. Flaky, butter — filled biscuits. And, how can anyone resist those mincemeat pies? If you tend to gain "a few extra pounds" during this fattening season, these seven easy tips will keep your waistline in check.

Every year around the holidays, millions of people just like you make the same promise. “This year, I WILL stick to my diet! I CAN avoid temptation.”

But then you view your decadent holiday feast. Gooey chocolate truffles. Fat-filled mashed potatoes. Sugar-crusted sweet potatoes. Soon, instead of sticking to your diet, you silently repeat everyone’s favorite rationalization - “It’s the holidays. I’ll try again in the New Year.”

And, just like every other year, January finds you about 10 pounds heavier – and incredibly discouraged. Good news! There are some easy ways to avoid packing those holiday pounds! These seven simple tips will help you successfully cruise through those holiday temptations – happily and healthily!

1. Don’t skip meals. You may think you’re “saving calories for later,” but you’re actually messing with your metabolism. Your body interprets missed meals as starvation, not a sneaky weight-loss technique. The result – your metabolism will slow to a snail’s pace and you’ll pack extra fat.

Managing Holiday Stress

Relationships with Family – Let’s Make the Holidays Fun

Family gatherings are notorious for emotional stress. Unresolved emotional issues erupt over little things; memories of past holidays return often accompanied by unfulfilled expectations. There is also happy stress connected with the excitement of getting everything done to get ready on time for the parties and gatherings. With so many expectations, the fear of failure can be underneath emotional outbursts. Control is a defense that is often used to maintain some degree of balance or to feel safe. The most common expression of stress or negative emotions in general, is anger.

We have all experienced anger, someone else’s anger expressed at us, as well as our own anger – both expressed and internalized. It doesn’t take long to experience the negative repercussions of expressing anger and science has documented internalized anger as the dominant emotion linked to cancer.

Now, if you are not going to express your anger, and you are not going to internalize it, what are you going to do? The Adrenal body type is notorious for suppressing their anger and irritations until they can no longer keep the lid on them; eventually the mass becomes too large and some little thing will trigger a violent explosion. Fortunately for Adrenals, once they express their anger, they are clear and start over as if nothing has happened. Unfortunately, the more sensitive types around them carry the burden of the emotional fallout. This obviously is not a viable solution. So, what are your options?

Essential Oil of the Month: Lemongrass

Lemongrass Essential Oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus) inspires and improves mental clarity. It supports good circulation, and has an ORAC anti-oxidant score of 17,765. It can be used for purifying, and for dietary support.

Resentment is one of the core emotional issues for the Gallbladder Body Type. When you are basically a giver, it is easy for other people to come to rely on you. Unfortunately, when things get out of balance, resentment sets in.

Lemongrass is an excellent oil for your first aid kit. It is great for tendons and ligaments, sore muscles. It is also the oil that assists with the release of resentments as described in Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils.

It can be used aromatically, or for dietary or topical use.

Beyond Toothpaste

Chronic low grade infections can undermine your health and well-being. The one area the body has difficulty clearing are low grade infections around the teeth. The active ingredients in Beyond Toothpaste are sulfur and MSM. Sulfur is used to clear infections and the MSM drives the sulfur into the gums so the body can then clear the infection. The best time to use Beyond Toothpaste is at night before you go to bed, when you will not be eating or drinking anything else. It doesn't take much, 1/2 of a toothbrush is enough.

Just like different points on your feet are associated with various organs, each tooth relates to an organ or area of the body. Many times a problem with an organ can be traced to a chronic low grade infection around a tooth. Beyond Toothpaste was developed to enable the body to clear these infections.
