Hello,
In recent newsletters, I provided some information on nutritional questions including gluten and GMOs. This month, I take a look at Dairy: Is it good for you, and is it good for your Body Type? This month features the Lymph Body Type, and the many uses for Lemon Essential Oil. Summer is winding down, and as you squeeze in those final beach outings and outdoor activities, please do remember to protect yourself from the Sun’s rays. 3rd Rock Sunblock is a healthy, skin-friendly and environment-friendly option for protection. I hope and trust that all topics I present this month help you to enjoy a healthier, happier life. Health and Happiness, Dr. Carolyn Mein |

Dairy - Is It Good For Me?

There is much conflicting information about dairy; so how do you know if you should eat it? In working with thousands of patients over the years, including those who are lactose intolerant, I found 21 of the 25 body types can eat butter 3 to 7 days per week. The other four body types (Blood, Hypothalamus, Medulla, and Nervous System) can eat butter 1 to 2 times per week. Ideally, butter should be organic and unsalted, you can add your own Pink Salt.
Kefir is another excellent food, because it contains beneficial bacteria. Antibiotics are known to kill all the bacteria in the intestines, including the good bacteria which are the food source for the Candida Albacans. Candida Albacans is one of the strongest organisms known and has been cultured out of the mouth within eight hours of taking an antibiotic. Candida overgrowth occurs when its food source has been destroyed. This is because the Candida Albacans is so strong, that it will do whatever it can to find food, including making holes in the intestines and getting into the blood stream. Once in the blood stream, it can go anywhere, producing Candida overgrowth. Clearing Candida overgrowth requires re-establishing Candida’s food source in the intestines, repairing the gut and eliminating the systemic fungal overgrowth. While yogurt also contains beneficial bacteria, this bacteria only stays in the system for one day. Kefir re-establishes the friendly bacteria which is the food source for Candida Albacans. When you are on antibiotics, you can eat yogurt or take a probiotic 2 hours after taking the antibiotic throughout the treatment course. Once you have finished, drink at least 8 ounces of kefir, before bed or before breakfast. The kefir can even be spread out to 2 ounces before bed for 4 days. Antibiotic use, including eating chicken or beef that have been given antibiotics, is the most common cause of Candida overgrowth. One of the ways to determine if you have difficulty digesting dairy is to notice whether or not you get phlegm after eating it. Phlegm in the throat, sinus congestion or a runny nose are symptoms of digestive distress, frequently the result of food sensitivity. Dairy will often interfere with memory for the Skin body type. Many children are sensitive to cow’s milk and cheese, along with sugar and wheat, which can show up as hyperactivity and/or learning difficulties. Another problem I have been seeing recently is digestive distress, including leaky gut, gas, bloating, and colitis, from people ingesting milk, yogurt and cheeses made from the milk from cows that have been fed GMO corn. It is now more important than ever to select grass-fed or non-GMO sources. Sheep and goat cheeses are generally good. Hard, aged for 6 – 12 mos. cheeses are often the easiest to digest. Refer to your body type food lists for more specifics. |
Essential Oil of the Month: Lemon

One of the core emotional issues for the Lymph body type is the fear of being left behind. This often unconscious fear can manifest as a need to be the best, to be a super or over achiever, to "keep up with the Jones's", or to over train. While these are admirable traits, taken to the extreme, they can be detrimental when the body can no longer keep up. The fear of being left behind is stored in the lymphatics of the body, the essential oil that holds the positive frequency - move - is lemon and the affirmation is "I am free to move forward."
Lemon is also used for other emotions, including frustration, sadness, emptiness, entitlement, life being unreliable, detachment, feeling stuck and jealousy. The underlying emotion of jealousy is the fear of being left behind. Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and contains compounds that have been studied for their effects on immune function. It may serve as an insect repellent and may be beneficial for the skin. (Caution: citrus oils should not be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or untraviolet light within 72 hours). Recommended uses:

Are You a Lymph Body Type?

You might be a Lymph Body Type if:
Lymph Body Types usually have difficulty gaining weight. They are especially sensitive to chemicals in foods. Clean, chemical free meats, grass-fed beef, and organic produce prevents chemicals from affecting the lymphatic system. These chemicals are one exception that may cause weight gain in Lymph Body Types due to the stresses they place upon the lymphatics. Lymph Body Types are naturally inclined to movement and exercise. The best time of day is early morning, as muscle movement stimulates the lymphatic system and gets everything moving. If this sounds like you, you may be a Lymph Body Type! Lymph Body Type celebrities include Tom Cruise, Heather Locklear, Jane Fonda, Mikhail Baryshnikov. Learn more about the Lymph Body Type
