Staying in Touch

Welcome to our second newsletter series. Now that you have been introduced to the 25 different body types, we are going to show you how to practically apply body typing to your daily life. The most profound aspect of body typing is the personality profile and what it means in relationships.

Future newsletters will relate to:

  • Relationships with family — Let’s make the Holidays fun.
  • Relationships with your spouse — Understanding his/her essence.
  • Relationships with your co-workers — Why they are the way they are and how to create harmony.

Decision 2004

Let’s take a look at our candidates for their inherent skills and personality traits that lead towards leadership. Body typing can provide such a key. If you want to cut to the chase and know a person’s essence — who they really are, how they will respond under pressure, and when their defenses are down, look at their Body Type Profile. “Essence”, “Characteristic Traits” and “Motivation” are consistent, your decision comes from determining where a person falls on the “At Worst” to “At Best” continuum and how well their inherent traits match with the job description requirements.

Political Campaigns: Politicians tell each group what they want to hear to get their vote and different groups want different things, so how do you know what to believe? Each candidate wants to be perceived as the best, so they will tell you how terrible their opponent is and why they are so much better. But what is true? Many promises are made, but what can you count on once they are elected? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a way of knowing what a person is really made of — to know who they really are?

Understanding a person’s body type is greatly enhanced by thinking of everyone you know who has the same body type. Think of everyone you know whose body type is Stomach and everyone you know whose body type is Medulla. To give you a clue, some famous Stomachs are: John Wayne, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Julia Roberts, Rush Limbough, Art Bell, Vice President Cheney, Mrs. Cheney, former President George H.W. Bush and current President George W. Bush.

Some famous Medullas are: the late, former President Ronald Reagan, George Clooney, Jane Seymour, and Senator John Kerry. Observe how the essence, characteristic traits, and motivation for each type is consistent for these people and the people you know. (For a complete profile, see “Different Bodies, Different Diets”.) The difference in people comes from whether they choose to express these traits more on the “At Best” or “At Worst” side.

The Stomach

Fire symbolizes the Stomach Body Type (George W. Bush). Digestion requires heat, which is focused energy. Focusing their attention on what’s at hand, allows Stomachs to ignite their passion, enjoy the moment and accomplish their goals.

Stomachs live in the present moment, in the HERE and NOW! There is a direct correlation between the personality and the way the organ functions in the body. The purpose of the stomach is to completely surround the food or whatever is in front of it, process or break it down and then move it out. Once the food is gone, the stomach sits and waits for the next meal or object of its attention. Likewise, when a Stomach person focuses their attention on you, you feel totally loved, surrounded and protected - until they turn their focus elsewhere, which can leave those around them feeling abandoned.

Stomach body types are known for their intense mental focus. Their ability to truly live in the moment, combined with their focus, passion and physical stamina, helps Stomachs accomplish challenging goals, and they love a challenge. Their greatest sense of fulfillment comes from meeting a challenge, so much so that if they don’t have a meaningful challenge, they will create one. Articulate and precise communicators, Stomachs tend to “talk out” a problem. Once digested, they tend to catagorize and see things in terms of black and white.

Stomachs are very good at the day-to-day task of running a company. They love keeping everything and everyone under control and are happiest when they can do so. Being in control allows them to feel safe, but then there are always things that are beyond their control which often triggers a fiery temper. On the “At Best” side, Stomachs move from needing to control to balance; developing their inner strength, enabling them to evaluate situations according to their inner truth rather than relying on outside appearances, partial information, or assumptions.

“At Best”

  • Can successfully activate others’ passion and appreciation.
  • Good sense of humor with a gregarious nature.
  • Adaptable, imaginative and enterprising.

“At Worst”

  • Needs be in control, especially if already feeling insecure.
  • Can become impatient, irritable or angry when others don’t follow their wishes.
  • Prone to blaming themselves, or conversely, denying all responsibility whatsoever.

The Medulla

A metronome symbolizes the Medulla Body Type (John Kerry). Steady and consistent, they will persevere unwavering in their activities and beliefs. With an intense sense of responsibility, Medullas remain indefinitely loyal to a worthwhile cause.

The Medulla is located in the brain stem between the pons and spinal cord. It controls such vital functions such as respiration and muscle function, it is the area of brain that initiates muscle movement putting thoughts into physical action.

Medulla body types are known for their consistency and persistence. Undaunted by time or trends, Medulla types are unwavering in their activities and beliefs, sticking by their choices with unusual resolve. They are typically cautious about getting into new situations, preferring to research their options thoroughly before they commit. Highly responsible and loyal, Medullas are noted for following through on a promise or task.

Medullas are planners; they look at current situations and project the long term outcome, considering every aspect before making an important decision. They tend to make good teachers and financial planners. They are very well organized and good listeners, collecting information from different sources before making their decisions. While they are in the process of collecting information, they may appear uncertain, which is why they can be considered flip-floppy. The Medulla likes to plan things out and follow the plan. They are very much into social structure, particularly in government, schools and organizations with emphasis on the long term good for the FUTURE.

“At Best”

  • Love of structure, order, consistency and stability often leads to personal and business success.
  • Thorough and willing to do whatever it takes to make things right.
  • Kind, caring, helpful and compassionate.

“At Worst”

  • Can become too stiff and rigid.
  • May be skeptical and pessimistic about anything new.
  • Prone to indecisiveness and disorganization, may find it difficult to get things done

Who do you want running the country, a Stomach (George W. Bush) or a Medulla (John Kerry)?

Next Issue: What to do if you or someone you know and love has control issues. What to do if there is a fear of failure and how it can block the flow of abundance.
